About
Dora Community Center is a community-focused nonprofit dedicated to creating practical opportunities for connection, learning, food access, and local resilience.
Our vision is to help build communities where people can gather, share resources, develop skills, and support one another—especially during times of hardship or disruption.
Through community programs, educational activities, workforce development, and partnerships, we are creating a welcoming place where ideas become action.

Our Work
The Dora Community Center is developing a community commercial kitchen and gathering space designed to support:
-
Community food production and food access
-
Small food businesses and food entrepreneurs
-
Educational and workforce-development programs
-
Community partnerships and volunteer engagement
-
Emergency preparedness and local resilience
-
Research on how communities can maintain safe, equitable services during disruptions
Our work connects people, resources, and knowledge. We focus on practical solutions that can strengthen community systems while creating opportunities for participation, learning, and economic development.
Our Community Kitchen

The community kitchen will serve as a shared resource for food entrepreneurs, community organizations, volunteers, and local partners. It will provide space for food preparation, training, collaboration, and community service.
The kitchen is also being developed as a living laboratory for studying how connected systems—such as electricity, water, refrigeration, sanitation, communications, and food production—can work together more reliably during extreme disruptions. The knowledge gained will help inform a model that other communities may be able to adapt.
We believe strong communities are built through:
-
Access: Creating opportunities for people to participate and benefit.
-
Collaboration: Working with residents, organizations, educators, businesses, and public partners.
-
Learning: Sharing practical knowledge and developing useful skills.
-
Resilience: Preparing for disruptions and improving the ability to recover.
-
Service: Turning community resources into meaningful support for others.
